Who We Are

Since 1937, we have cheerfully served Circle 10 and its Scouts. Mikanakawa Lodge, and the Order of the Arrow as a whole, exists to honor those Scouts who have devoted their lives to cheerful service and “giving back more to Scouting than it has given to them.” Our Lodge contains over 3,000 of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma’s best and brightest Scouts.

Our Mission

To achieve the purpose of the Order of the Arrow as an integral part of the Boy Scouts of America in the council through positive youth leadership under the guidance of selected capable adults.

Our Purpose

  • To recognize those campers – Scouts, Varsity Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and by such recognition cause other campers to conduct themselves in such manner as to warrant recognition.
  • To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit.
  • To promote Scout camping, which relates it greatest effectiveness as a part of the unit’s camping program, and to help strengthen the district and council camping program both year round and summer camps, as directed by the camping committee of the council.
  • To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.

Our Obligation

I do hereby promise on my honor as a Scout, that I will always and faithfully observe and preserve the traditions of the Order of the Arrow, Wimachtendienk, Wingolauchsik, Witahemui.

I will always regard the ties of Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow as lasting, and will seek to preserve a Cheerful spirit, even in the midst of irksome tasks and weighty responsibilities, and will endeavor, so far as in my power lies, to be unselfish in service and devotion to the welfare of other.

As we live our lives, every day we must strive to perform our best in everything we do and ‘do a good turn daily.’ Arrowmen throughout our Lodge are the embodiment of the Scout Law and of the Scout Oath. We aim for higher goals, we do great big things, and we always remember to thank everyone around us for their support, friendship and fellowship.
